Joe Camillo is in his 10th season at the head coach of the Duquesne women's tennis team. Since he arrived on the Bluff, he has made steady strides to bring the Dukes into the top of the Atlantic 10 standings. Over his tenure, Camillo has made vast improvements to the program's competitiveness, strength of schedule and success and has expanded the Dukes' recruiting efforts to bring in the most talented student-athletes. Under his guidance, Duquesne has seen seven of its student-athletes lauded to the All-Atlantic 10 team a total of 11 times.

Last season, Camillo guided Duquesne to fifth place in the conference and their best-ever overall record. Wins over Big East schools West Virginia and Pittsburgh highlighted a 7-3 non-conference record as the Dukes went 15-6 overall. Half of the starting lineup earned Atlantic 10 honors in Jackie Hughes, Becky Poole and Johanna Bezjak. He was rewarded by being named College Coach of the Year by the Allegheny Mountain District of the United States Tennis Association.

For the 2005-06 season, the Dukes' roster consisted primarily of underclassmen as 6 out of the 9 players were underclassmen. The Dukes posted a strong 14-10 overall record but ended the season with a disappointing eighth-place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championships. Despite finishing eighth in the A-10 championships, the squad will suffer no losses as a result of graduation.

The Red & Blue boasted a young, but talented roster in 2004-05 as the No. 1 - No. 3 spots were mainly secured by underclassmen. Despite their youth, the Dukes posted a 4-1 record in the fall and went 7-11 during their spring championship slate. Although Duquesne finished seventh in the A-10 championships, the squad suffered the loss of just two players in seniors Sarah Shanahan and Julie Wagner.

Duquesne finished sixth at the 2003-04 Conference championship taking wins over St. Bonaventure and Fordham while falling to UMass and George Washington. The Dukes posted a 12-10 overall mark, which included a 4-0 record during the fall campaign. Academically, Sara Shanahan was named to the A-10 Academic All-Conference team.

The Dukes finished with an 8-11 record in 2002-03 and posted a disappointing seventh-place finish at the Conference championship. Duquesne entered the championship as the seventh seed and went 2-2. Alina Klinova received her third-straight All-Atlantic 10 accolade.

In the 2001-02 season, the Dukes made history entering the Atlantic 10 Championship as the No. 4 seed. Duquesne posted a 15-9 overall record going 5-0 in the fall and 10-9 in the spring championship season. Duquesne went 2-1 in the conference championship falling to Dayton in the first match before defeating Temple and Fordham to finish fifth overall. Klinova was named to the All-Conference team her second-consecutive season make her the first at Duquesne to do so.

In 2000-01, the Red & Blue posted a 10-6 mark in the spring and went 3-4 in the fall for an overall record of 13-10. Duquesne finished with a 2-1 record at the Atlantic 10 Championships for its second consecutive fifth place showing. Two Dukes garnered All-Conference honors as Klinova and sophomore Leia Zingone were named.

Camillo led Duquesne to an overall mark of 14-6 in 1999-2000 going 7-1 in the fall and 7-5 during the spring slate. The Dukes concluded the season tied for fifth in the Atlantic 10 Conference to match the University's best finish, which occurred in 1996.

In his first season, 1998-99, Camillo guided the Dukes to a 15-9 record and to a sixth-place finish in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Individually, Krista Kondrath became just the second Duquesne student-athlete to be named to the All-Atlantic 10 team.

Camillo came to Duquesne after serving as the head Tennis Pro at the Edgewood Tennis and Fitness Club where he managed all tennis activities from 1996 to 1999. He boasts a wealth of knowledge and experience as he began conducting private lessons and clinics as the Head Pro in 1990 at the Hyatt Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico. Camillo is currently a tennis professional at the Club 4 Life in Monroeville, PA and has also served as a Tennis Pro at The Racquet Club of Pittsburgh directing private and group lessons, clinics and promotion of special events.
